Day Nineteen: Wednesday, June 27, 2007
Today we breathed a sigh of relief as we boarded our plane for California. We were finally going home! Dad Bogursky had to work today, so we didn't even know how we were getting home from the airport. We weren't even sure our luggage would still be there waiting for us (nobody ever checks claim tickets), but we didn't care. We just wanted to see that beautiful Golden State!
Andy swears he will never fly again, except in the case of a family emergency. We'll see. Kala agrees that it is much more fun to drive (even though she does all of the driving these days), but flight is so much quicker. Usually. Well, maybe Andy has a point.
To our surprise and delight, Grandpa Bob was at the airport to meet us and had even brought his bike rack, so we were able to get everything home in one trip. We had been worried because the stroller is awkward and cumbersome and does not easily fit into most cars, but the bike rack was the perfect solution. There was a moment when we were concerned that Victor's luggage hadn't made it, but it turned up in someone's office, so we were good to go.
Back at Grandpa Bob and Grandma Eda's, we relaxed and showered and had Chinese food from Mandarin City for dinner. It's not east coast Chinese food, but it's the best that California has to offer. We already miss the food back east!
While Kala wasn't looking, Victor planted some creepy looking statuettes in her bedroom, which she discovered with a start (much to Victor's delight) and banished from her sight.
We have had a wonderful time traveling with Victor and sharing some history, science, and life experience with him. We hope it was a trip that he will remember, and that will help him to learn and grow personally. Kala will drive him home tomorrow, while Kismet and her daddy take the day off.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about our travels. We will be taking it easy and spending time with the family from here on out, so we will sign off now with a warm wish for your continued enjoyment of the summer. See you next time!
