The Teddy Chronicles
or: a bear, a Mac, and a teenager with too much time on
his hands
Once, more than ten years ago, I had a Macintosh computer and a little
cousin named Kevin. Well, actually, I still have both of them, but the
Mac, having never been upgraded past its initial 1 meg RAM (plenty at
the time!), is pretty much useless now, and, well, Kevin's no longer
what I'd call my "little" cousin. Anyway, Kevin had a stuffed animal
which he loved more than anything, which was his prized teddy bear,
"Teddy." Little kids have a great way of coming up with unusual names
for their toys.
Just for fun (for what other reason could there be?), we put Teddy into
a photocopy machine, and scanned the resulting copy into my Macintosh
computer. This is what it looked like:
Remember that, at this time, the Mac had no color imaging capabilities, or even grayscale.
Just simple black-and-white pictures. Of course, that didn't stop me from messing with Teddy.
Using crude "paint" software, I drew all over that bear, with varied results, some of which
I'm quite pleased to present here.

liked 'em.
